78. The weapon

Turner, who has remained quiet for a while, gets something out of his belt. It’s a weapon! Laura stays completely still.

Turner: Quiet! You both need to be quiet for a second. Turner: And you, Smith. You think you’re better than everyone, with your impeccable morals? Bad news, you aren’t. After all of this, you will never get a promotion in your life. You will have the same wage for the next twenty years and then retire. Your son won’t be living at home by then, you will be poor and alone, and no-one close to you will know about all the good things you did when you were a copper. Is that what you want?
