95. The opening
One week later, Alice and Natalie attend the formal opening of the new Windsor Hall at the National Gallery. Lawrence Windsor’s collection will be on exhibit to the public in this new space. The two women, who have spent the last week resting in the hotel, are dressed in formal attire, in long ball gowns. Waiters are circulating the room, offering glasses of wine and canapés. The works of art from Lawrence Windsor’s collection are on display around the room. On the largest wall, highlighted with special lighting, are the Turner drawings.
Natalie: Pete! You came.
Pete: Yes! Of course. I wouldn’t miss this for the world. This is Adam, my son.
Alice: Hi, Adam! Did your father tell you how he saved our lives?
Ali: It’s true!? I thought he was making it up.
Natalie: Not at all. Your father is a hero!
Detective Smith: Natalie, Alice! You’re here!
Alice: Detective Smith! I almost didn’t recognise you with that dress on.
Detective Smith: Ha ha ha. Today is my day off, so you can call me Kelly.
