Listenable: The Content to Set Your Podcast

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Quite honestly, every person and every experience I’ve had doing a radio show or managing content should get some credit.

Jack Diamond introduced me to radio morning shows, and Kidd Kraddick was instrumental in teaching me to have zero boundaries and take risks. Mark Renier and Brian Philips hired me as an inexperienced host in Atlanta. Brian gave me the freedom to learn and create without fear.

Anybody who’s contributed in a positive way to The Bert Show deserves acknowledgment. I have learned from each and every person that has been in the studio in one way or another. For those who were loyal and determined to create something special and matched (in some cases surpassed) my devotion to creating something legendary, thank you. Thank you, Tracey Kinney, Tommy Owen, and Kristin Klingshirn for your loyalty, patience, guidance, and integrity.

Everybody needs a team of trusted and loyal friends who are willing to give you tough love when you need it. Sidney Poitier wrote, “When you go for a walk with someone, something interesting happens unconsciously, either they adjust to your pace or you adjust to their pace.” Assess your friends and ask yourself, are those relationships helpful and healthy for you? No truer statement can be applied to a group of eight men I lean on because they make me keep up with their pace. I was lucky enough to be invited into this group of exceptional men who guide me emotionally and professionally. Without these dudes for sure this book would have never been written. Thank you to Quincy Jones for inviting me into this group of men who have made me a better man on so many levels: Chris Tuff, Tommy Breedlove, Taylor Barnes, Mike Domenicone, Hank McLarty, Marc Hodulich, and Peter Boulden.

My fiancée (maybe we’ll be married by the time this book is done?), Tiffany Haynes, for always giving me the space to be creative and the gentle guidance and support this insecure guy needs from time to time.

Thank you, Chris Tuff, for making me think bigger than I ever could have imagined and guiding me through the next professional chapter of my life. And Sarah Tuff, Ethan Webb, Catherine Turner, and Nick Pavlidis, who patiently guided me through this book writing process.

Thank you Amy Howard, for your loyalty, support, and your exhaustive efforts to keep me organized.

Thank you to all the amazing people who agreed to be interviewed for the book.

Finally, thank you to my publisher, Morgan James Publishing, for helping me bring this book to life and giving me the guidance and freedom to produce a book I am excited to share with the world.
