Function 嘛 is a sentence-final particle that affirms what should be obvious, either to the speaker or from the context.

1 我願意幫你忙，因為我們是好朋友嘛！

Wǒ yuànyì bāng nǐ máng, yīnwèi wǒmen shì hǎo péngyǒu ma!

Of course I’m willing to help, because we are good friends!

2 王先生是為了做生意，才不得不喝酒嘛！

Wáng xiānshēng shì wèile zuò shēngyì, cái bùdébù hē jiǔ ma!

Mr. Wang only drinks because doing business requires it!

3 他的叔叔出來競選，是想為大家做事嘛！

Tā de shúshu chūlái jìngxuǎn, shì xiǎng wèi dàjiā zuòshì ma!
