gèwèi guānzhòngpéngyou, huānyíng shōukàn wèinínfúwù jiémù. jīntiān guānglín wǒmen yǎnbōshì de jiābīn shì zhùmíng biǎoyǎnyìshùjiā Zhào Xiǎoshān. Zhào lǎoshī, xīnniánhǎo!

Hello everyone, and welcome to ``At Your Service"! Our special guest today is performing artist Zhao Xiaoshan. Happy New Year, Mr. Zhao!

xīnniánhǎo! guānzhòng péngyǒumen, xīnchūnyúkuài, gěi dàjiā bài ge wǎnnián!

Happy New Year! Hi everyone, and happy New Year! Let me wish you all a belated Happy New Year!

Zhào lǎoshī, nín xǐhuan chīcù ma?

Mr. Zhao, do you like to eat vinegar?

yō, nǐ zhè wèntí kě gòu jiānruì de, ràng wǒ juéde yǒu xiánwàizhīyīn a! chīcù ma, yào kàn shì Zhènjiāng xiāngcù hái shì Shānxī lǎochéncù, shì píngguǒ cù hái shì méizǐ cù, háiyàokàn shì zuò tángcùpáigǔ hái shì xīhúcùyú, hái děi jiǎngjiu......

Oh, that's a sharp question! I feel like you're implying something! Vinegar...well, that depends whether it's aged Zhenjiang vinegar, or rice vinegar from Shanxi, if it's apple vinegar or plum vinegar, and then you have to see whether you're making sweet-and-sour pork or West Lake-style fish. And then you have to look at--

dédédé, Zhào lǎoshī, bùkuì shì lǎoqiánbèi, méi ràng wǒ gěi rào jìnqù. qíshí jīntiān wǒmen de huàtí jiùshì `` cù de miàoyòng" . nín píngshí yǒu shénme guānyú chīcù de xiǎo qiàomén ma?

Alright, Mr. Zhao. There's no denying you're an old hand at this. You didn't get taken in by me! Actually, our topic today is ``The Incredible Uses of Vinegar." What little tricks for eating vinegar do you use ordinarily?

zhège ma, zuòcài de shíhou shāowēi fàng diǎn cù, bùdàn kěyǐ tíxiān, hái néng bìmiǎn cài lǐ de wéishēngsù C bèi pòhuài. háiyǒu bèi yúcì qiǎdào hóulóng shí, hē diǎn cù, kěyǐ ruǎnhuà yúcì, ránhòu hé shíwù yīqǐ yàn xiàqù.

Well...when you're cooking, you can add a little vinegar. Not only does it make the food seem more savory, it can also prevent the Vitamin C in the food from getting broken down. And when you choke on a fish bone, if you drink a bit of vinegar you can soften the bone, and you'll be able to swallow it with the food.

yō, kànlai nín shì ge chīcù zhuānjiā a! nà wǒ kě děi kǎokao nǐ le, zhège cù chúle yòngyú chī yǐwài, háiyǒu shénme yòngtú ne?

Oh, looks like you're really an expert at eating vinegar! Well, then, I have to give you a little test-- other than eating vinegar, what else can you do with it?

zhège cù a, hái shì wǒmen shēnghuó zhōng de xiǎo bāngshou. tā néng yònglái xiāodú. zài liúgǎnjìjié , guānbì fángjiān ménchuāng, bǎ cù yòng xiǎoguō jiārè zhēngfā, néng shāmiè kōngqì zhōng de bìngjūn. yòng cù lái cāshì jīnshǔ qìmǐn, nénggòu guāngliàng rúxīn. nuǎnshuǐpíng lǐ de shuǐgòu yě kěyǐ yòng cù lái qīngchú.

Let me see...vinegar is really a great little helper. It can disinfect things. During flu season, when your doors and windows are shut, use a little pot to evaporate some vinegar and you'll be able to kill off the bacteria in the air. You can wipe off metallic things with vinegar, and they'll sparkle like new. You can also use vinegar to clean out your thermos.

pèifú, pèifú ā! dàjiā yīdìng xiǎng zhīdào wèishénme zhè xiǎoxiǎo de cù huì yǒu zhème duō de yòngtú ba. qíshí ne, cù de zhǔyào chéngfèn shì cùsuān.

Wow, I really admire your knowledge! I'm sure everyone wants to know how vinegar could have so many uses! Actually, the main ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid.

Oh, talking about the incredible uses of vinegar, it looks like we left out one of its most important effects!

méicuò, nà jiùshì cù yǒu hěn hǎo de bǎojiàn gōngxiào. jīntiān wǒ jiù hé Zhào lǎoshī yīqǐ xiàng dàjiā, tèbié shì zhōnglǎonián péngyǒumen, jièshào cùdàn de zuòfǎ hé chīfǎ. cùdàn kěyǐ ruǎnhuà xuèguǎn, duì dòngmàiyìnghuà, gāoxuèyā yǒu hěn hǎo de liáoxiào, hái néng zēngqiáng miǎnyìlì.

That's right-- vinegar is good for maintaining good health! Today, Mr. Zhao and I would like tell everyone, especially the middle-aged or elderly people out there, how to make and eat pickled eggs. Pickled eggs can soften your blood vessels, so they're effective against hardening of the arteries and high blood pressure. They can also improve your immunity.

nǚxìng péngyou yě qǐng zhùyì le, cùdàn hái néng měiróng jiǎnféi, shǐ pífū biànde yòu bái yòu nèn! zǒngzhī zhè cù a, hái shì yīnggāi duō chī, hēhē!

And, ladies, pickled eggs make your skin white and tender, while making you slimmer and more beautiful! In a word, you should eat more vinegar, ha ha!
