Don't kick me while I'm down! It's all deserts there. Could I avoid getting darker? Even if it were ancient times and I were going with princesses, when they got there they'd be as dark as me!

B 是啊，不過特別震撼。大漠孤煙，那叫壯麗啊！比王洛賓歌裡唱的都美！不過大沙漠，荒無人煙，又渴又熱。想想古代商人掙錢真不容易，要沿著這樣一條路把絲綢賣到歐洲去！

Yeah, but really moving. There were great deserts shrouded in mist-- that's what I call magnificent! It was even more beautiful than in Wang Luo Bing's songs. But in the huge, desolate desert, you're hot and hungry. You think of how hard it was for people in ancient times to make money. They had to follow a road like that to sell their silk in Europe!
A 所以絲綢在古羅馬能賣到天價，比黃金還貴呢！
suǒyǐ sīchóu zài Gǔluómǎ néng màidào tiānjià, bǐ huángjīn hái guì ne!
So, in Ancient Rome, silk could be sold for astronomical prices! It was more valuable than gold!
B 是呀！這次還去了塔克拉瑪干沙漠，是絲綢之路上非常重要的中繼站，還是樓蘭古國所在地。

Yes. I went to the Taklimakan Desert on this trip. It's an extremely important junction on the Silk Road. It's where the ancient country of Loulan was located.

Oh, Ancient Loulan. It must be really mysterious, huh?
B 樓蘭在維語裡就是“進去了就出不來的地方”。你想想，有多可怕！而且那兒有一段路，汽車開不進去，必須騎駱駝。當時我真怕就那樣死在沙漠裡了！
Lóulán zài Wéiyǔ li jiùshì `` jìnqù le jiù chū bù lái de dìfang" . nǐ xiǎngxiang , yǒu duō kěpà! érqiě nàr yǒu yī duàn lù, qìchē kāibùjìnqù, bìxū qí luòtuo. dāngshí wǒ zhēn pà jiù nàyàng sǐ zài shāmò li le!
In the Uighur language, Loulan means ``The place that you can enter but never leave." Think about it-- how terrifying is that! And there's a place there that cars can't enter. You have to ride camels! At the time I was really afraid of dying that way in the desert!

B 說實話有點兒失望。就幾座荒廢的城樓和寺廟。不過裡面有一些出土文物，還有樓蘭女屍。
shuō shíhuà yǒudiǎnr shīwàng. jiù jǐ zuò huāngfèi de chénglóu hé sìmiào. bùguò lǐmiàn yǒu yīxiē chūtǔ wénwù, hái yǒu Lóulán nǚshī.
Frankly, it was a little disappointing. There were just a few neglected buildings and temples. But there were a few excavated artifacts there, as well as the ``Loulan Beauty."

Their standards were really high! In the tomb were bronze implements from the Eastern Han era. There were also pearls from Persia and Europe, and coral and whatnot.
