Incredible. There's been another earthquake in Indonesia. These last couple years the world has not been a very peaceful place. There's been one disaster after another. Can doomsday be upon us?

What are you blathering about? The greenhouse effect is the main reason natural disasters have been so frequent in the last few years. And in the final analysis, that is something we humans have caused ourselves. We destroy the environment, and now the environment is letting us know who's boss.

I think that besides the greenhouse effect, there is some mysterious power at work. Look, the natural disasters in these last few years have been just like the plot of a Hollywood movie. Floods, earthquakes, tsunamis...and they come as soon as you mention them. They have great power to destroy. It's definitely an omen of the end of the world.

Don't be such a worry-wort. Even if the sky falls, there will be tall people to hold it up. It won't crush you.

I'm not worrying blindly. All my fears have a basis in reality.
B 難道科幻片是事實根據？再說了，就算真的有世界末日，你這樣擔心又有什麼用？目前我們要做的、能做的，也只有好好保護地球、保護環境，儘量減少自然災害發生的人為因素了。

You can't be saying that sci-fi movies are empirical evidence, can you? Plus, even if it really is the end of the world, what good does it do for you to worry this way? At the moment, the only thing we need to do, the only thing we can do, is do our best to protect the planet and the environment, and to minimize the human factors that cause natural disasters.
