In sum, for a long time now modern Chinese universities' rules and atmosphere haven't been that rigid.
A: 這倒是。現在在校大學生都可以結婚了。可是我還是覺得住校是件挺沒自由的事。好幾個人一個房間，一點私人空間都沒有。

That's true. In the past, Chinese universities were hard to get into and easy to leave. But these days, the requirements are much more rigorous. Coasting through the day absolutely won't work.
