It's October thirty-first. Originally it was a ghost holiday for the Irish Celts, which is why people these days get dressed so weird to celebrate Halloween. B 是啊，不過我在外國人的超市也看到好多萬聖節的南瓜燈。其實這個節日還有一個很重要的部分，就是小孩子問鄰居要糖吃。他們會幾個人一起，繞著自己住的地方，一家一家敲門，說:“trickortreat?”如果哪家沒有用好東西招待他們，他們就會搞惡作劇。

Yeah, but I've seen a lot of Halloween pumpkin lamps at foreign supermarkets. Actually, there's another really important aspect of this holiday: kids have to ask their neighbors for candy. A few of them go around the place the live together, knocking on each family's door and saying ``trick or treat?" If anyone has nothing for them, they'll make some mischief.
A 啊，這不是威脅嗎？不過小孩子一年也就這麼一天能這樣玩，大人肯定也能原諒他們。如果中國小孩知道這點，也一定會喜歡萬聖節的。

Agh, isn't that a threat? But little kids only get to play that way one night per year, so adults must be willing to forgive them. If Chinese kids knew about this, they would definitely like Halloween.
B 是啊。不過對我們大人來說，總覺得和這個節日有距離。我老不明白為什麼外國人對它這麼重視，現在想起來，童年過節時好玩兒的記憶大概也是一個很重要的原因吧。

Yeah. But we adults always feel some distance from this holiday. I've never understood why foreigners take it so seriously. Thinking about it now, a major reason must be their memories of the fun they had as kids.
A 嗯，我們中國人正是因為沒有這種記憶，所以很難理解和感受萬聖節的魅力。
