A 好的。我這份還是剛畢業的時候做的老簡歷，在格式上應該和國外的簡歷有很大的不同吧？

Yeah, that's for sure. I only realized after checking your resume that Chinese and foreign resumes are really different. For instance, here in the ``personal information" section, yours is too detailed. You've gone so far as to include your race, month and year of birth, height, blood type and so on.
A 怎麼？國外都不寫這些信息的嗎？我們這裡大多數簡歷都會寫得這麼詳細，就算你的簡歷裡不寫，一些公司發給應聘者的申請表格里，也會要求你提供這些信息。

Huh? People in other countries don't include this stuff? Here, the majority of resumes are all as detailed as this. Even if you don't put it in the resume, some companies will ask you to provide it in the forms that you fill out when you apply for a job.
B 在國外的簡歷中，個人信息只需要提供姓名和聯繫方式，一般是不需要提供這些詳細信息的。我覺得這些信息太過於私人化了，如果要求提供這些信息，不是容易造成種族，年齡或者外貌上的偏見嗎？

In foreign resumes, you only need to provide your full name and contact information in the personal information section. They usually don't require you to provide this kind of detailed information. I think this information is too personal. If they ask you to provide these things, doesn't that make it easy to have prejudice based on race, age or appearance?
A 這倒也是。可是在中國大家都已經習慣這樣去寫了，也從來沒想過偏見不偏見的問題。

That's true. But in China everyone's already used to writing it this way. We've never thought about the issue of prejudice.

Huh. I'm sure that the majority of bosses care much more about your education and work experience, and not about your personal information. So you could probably flesh out these two sections even more. Plus, such a formal picture is a bit much. It's very rare for foreign resumes to attach a photo. After all, whether you get the job depends on your work ability, not your looks.
A 難道這個也是中國式作風？現在大多數求職者的簡歷裡都會附上自己的照片，生活照或者登記照，以便讓老闆們在面試之前就能對自己有所印象。我當年的這種正式求職照已經算是很老套了。

Are you saying that this is also a Chinese way of doing things? These days, most job-seekers include an informal or ID photo on their resume. It's so that the managers will have some kind of an impression of you before the interview. The formal job-hunt photos I took in those days would already be considered too old-fashioned.
B 是的。說起來你簡歷裡的花樣還真是多呢，難怪這麼厚一疊。其實在簡歷裡你只要簡單清楚地闡述出你的個人經歷就好，通常一頁紙就能搞定，最多兩頁，再多加一封推薦信或者推薦人的聯繫方式，太多太厚了老闆們也沒時間和興趣去看的。
shìde. shuō qǐlai nǐ jiǎnlì lǐ de huāyàng hái zhēnshì duō ne, nánguài zhème hòu yī dié. qíshí zài jiǎnlì lǐ nǐ zhǐyào jiǎndān qīngchu de chǎnshù chū nǐ de gèrén jīnglì jiù hǎo, tōngcháng yī yè zhǐ jiù néng gǎodìng, zuìduō liǎng yè, zài duō jiā yī fēng tuījiànxìn huòzhě tuījiànrén de liánjì fāngshì, tài duō tài hòu le lǎobǎnmen yě méi shíjiān hé xìngqù qù kān de.
Yeah. And come to think of it, there are a lot of frills on your resume. No wonder it's so thick. Actually, you only need to simply and clearly describe your personal experience in a resume. Usually one page is enough to get the job done, or two pages at the most, plus a letter of recommendation or the contact info for someone who's recommending you. If there's too much stuff, bosses don't have the time or inclination to read it.
A 說的也是，看來我要好好修改一下我的簡歷了，壓縮成一頁紙的簡歷對我來說還真有點難度。

That's true. Looks like I'd better revise it a bit. Compressing my resume down to a single page will be a little tricky for me.
