A 是啊。我申請的是技術移民，上週剛剛拿到簽證。沒想到這麼快就辦好了，忽然有點捨不得走了。

Yeah. I'm applying as a technological immigrant. I just got my Canadian visa last week. I had no idea that I'd be able to get it taken care of so quickly. Suddenly, part of me can't really stand to leave!

Ah, there's nothing I can do about that. Who really wants to leave it all behind? But there's just not enough room for people with my major to develop in China. But in Canada, people in my line of work can develop faster and more broadly. I've always wanted to go there to learn. It just worked out that there was just a Canadian company that wanted to hire me. They helped me take care of the immigration stuff.

Actually, it's not that I have a real hankering to live abroad. But you have to admit, some developed countries can provide much better environmental and technological support for our research. To a certain degree, they're more able to help us realize our ideals. I've always needed a much broader scope of operation, and new environment to challenge myself, and to stimulate my potential. That's the only reason I've decided to go abroad to work.
B 哎，你也算高科技人才了，這樣出國我還能理解。可我不懂為什麼那麼多人要擠破頭偷渡出國或者到國外去當廉價勞動力，不僅語言不通，還很辛苦，這樣是為什麼呢？難道國外真的是遍地黃金嗎？

Ah, you can be considered a hi-tech worker. I can actually understand someone like you wanting to go abroad. But I don't understand why so many people try so hard to sneak across the border, or do low-paid work in other countries. Not only do they not know the language, it's also really hard work. Why do they do it? Are the streets really paved with gold in other countries?
A 未必見得。我也聽說很多中國人在國外生活其實很艱難，可是為了生存又不得不如此。所以我選擇讓妻子和孩子留在國內，自己先出去闖一闖，畢竟機會來之不易。
wèibì jiànde. wǒ yě tīngshuō hěn duō zhōngguórén zài guówài shēnghuó qíshí hěn jiānnán, kěshì wèile shēngcún yòu bùdébù rúcǐ. suǒyǐ wǒ xuǎnzé ràng qīzi hé háizi liú zài guónèi, zìjǐ xiān chūqù chuǎng yi chuǎng, bìjìng jīhuì láizhībùyì.
I don't necessarily see it that way. I've also heard that a lot of Chinese people have very difficult lives overseas. But they have no other choice-- they do it to survive. So, I've chosen to leave my wife and child in China. After all, an opportunity like this doesn't come along too often.
B 這倒是。不過越來越多的中國人被邀請到國外去工作，也證明了中國人的能力越來越受到重視。可是在國外打工畢竟不容易，你也別太拼命，要多注意身體，有空可要多回來看我們呀。

That's true. But more and more Chinese people are being invited to work abroad. That proves that Chinese people's abilities are being taken more and more seriously. But working abroad is hard. Don't work yourself to death. Stay healthy, and come back to visit us often!
A 一定一定。我這才邁出了第一步。如何適應國外文化、適應新的工作方式，這些都還需要我去不斷實踐，要學的東西實在太多了。
