Well, of course-- he's my idol. I think he's one of the most influential and talented people of the silent film era. I've always liked his satirical movies and his black humor. Even though they're silent movies, he's able to convey deep meaning with his excellent performances. You can't help laughing, and you can enjoy his send-ups of the dark side of society. At the time, that was really something.

Yeah. I've also seen a lot of Chaplin's movies. The things they talk about all occur in people's daily lives, but the way he portrays them in a funny and exaggerated way give them a special comedic effect. He's even able to make un-funny things hilarious. But after laughing, you always feel a bit bittersweet, and full of sympathy for the oppressed and mistreated. His ``Tramp" has already become a classic.

Chaplin's movies are simply a standard for movies from the twenties to the fifties. ``City Lights," ``Modern Times," and ``The Great Dictator,"-- these movies have attracted great interest among audiences not only in America but around the world. A lot of his movies are also very popular in China. To this day, the supply of classic Chaplin DVD collections can't match the demand.

I've collected a lot of Chaplin movies. Chaplin was always deeply sympathetic toward the little guy and the out of work, and made fun of capitalism and the powers that be. He supported progressive democratic movements, and so from the very beginning, Chaplin and his movies have been very popular in China.

Really, whenever I think of him I think of the humor of the silent movies of those times.
