Then how much are the taxes?
A: 按規定，外籍員工的個人所得稅起徵點是4800。工資是12000的話，要交1065塊錢的個人所得稅。
àn guīdìng, wàijí yuángōng de gèrén suǒdéshuì qǐzhēngdiǎn shì sìqiān bā. gōngzī shì yīwàn èr dehuà, yào jiāo yīqiān líng liùshí wǔ kuàiqián de gèrén suǒdéshuì.
By law, the personal income tax for foreign employees starts at 4,800. If your salary is 12,000 you have to pay 1,065 in income tax.

Chinese taxes are this high too?!
A: 不過外籍員工可以提供租房發票，用每個月的租金抵扣部分個人所得稅。
bùguò wàijí yuángōng kěyǐ tígōng zūfáng fāpiào, yòng měi ge yuè de zūjīn dǐkòu bùfen gèrén suǒdéshuì.
However, we can offer our foreign employees housing reimbursement and use the monthly rent to deduct a portion from the income tax.
B: 哦。那還要交多少？

Oh. Then how much tax do I have to pay?
A: 如果你能提供每個月6000塊的租房發票的話，你的計稅工資就是12000減去6000，也就是6000塊。那你每個月只需要交95塊錢的稅。
rúguǒ nǐ néng tígōng měi ge yuè liùqiān kuài de zūfáng fāpiào dehuà, nǐ de jìshuì gōngzī jiùshì yīwàn èr jiǎn qù liùqiān, yě jiùshì liùqiān kuài. nà nǐ měi ge yuè zhǐ xūyào jiāo jiǔshí wǔ kuàiqián de shuì.
If you can provide a 6,000 kuai receipt for your rent, your taxed income is 12,000 minus 6,000, or, 6,000 kuai. That way you only have to pay 95 kuai in taxes a month.
B: 這個方法好！不過我的房租只要2500，房東不可能給我6000塊的發票。
zhè ge fāngfǎ hǎo! bùguò wǒ de fángzū zhǐyào liǎngqiān wǔ, fángdōng bù kěnéng gěi wǒ liùqiān kuài de fāpiào.
That works out really nicely! But, my rent is only 2,500. There's no way my landlord will give me a 6,000 kuai receipt.
A: 這不是什麼大問題。一般來說，去稅務局開發票要交的發票稅由你來承擔的話，房東都會同意的。
zhè bùshì shénme dà wèntí. yībān láishuō, qù shuìwùjú kāi fāpiào yào jiāo de fāpiào shuì yóu nǐ lái chéngdān dehuà, fángdōng dōu huì tóngyì de.
This isn't a big problem. Normally when you go to the tax bureau to have them write a receipt, if you cover the receipt tax, the landlord will be okay with it.
B: 果然是上有政策下有對策！
guǒrán shì shàng yǒu zhèngcè xià yǒu duìcè!
Sure enough, when the government has measures, the people have countermeasures!
A: 在政策允許的範圍內，公司會盡量為員工著想，能少交就少交。
zài zhèngcè yǔnxǔ de fànwéi nèi, gōngsī huì jǐnliàng wèi yuángōng zhuóxiǎng, néng shǎo jiāo jiù shǎo jiāo.
As long as it's within the limits of the law, our company will do its best to be considerate of our employees and pay less taxes when possible.

Our company isn't responsible for medical insurance. The government doesn't make this mandatory. However, you can purchase private insurance yourself. When you need to, you can ask the other foreign employees for advice. As for a return ticket, after your contract is up you can write it off and we'll provide a refund.
B: 這麼看來，我不能跳槽了。
zhème kànlai, wǒ bù néng tiàocáo le.
Well if that's the case, I can't change jobs now.
