I'm still not sure. I've only had one class. Hey, Mr. Liu, come take a look at this painting of galloping horses.

A:   不錯啊，和徐悲鴻的原畫有幾分形似。

bùcuò ā, hé Xú Bēihóng de yuánhuà yǒu jǐ fēn xíngsì.

Not bad. It has a few similarities to Xu Beihong's original.

B:   這是我老師臨摹的。

zhè shì wǒ lǎoshī línmó de.

This a reproduction the teacher made.

A:   但是少了一些氣勢。不過看這畫工和線條，你老師的功底挺深的。

dànshì shǎo le yīxiē qìshì. bùguò kàn zhè huàgōng hé xiàntiáo, nǐ lǎoshī de gōngdǐ tǐng shēn de.

Yet it's lacking a bit of energy. However, looking at the artistry and the line work here, your teacher has a really deep understanding of the fundamentals.

B:   嗯。他還在這裡加了題字和印章，佈局更完美了。

Yeah. He also added some script and a stamp here. The composition is even more perfect.

A:   哎，老鄭，你不是說你有唐伯虎的真跡嗎？拿出來看看啊。

āi, Lǎo Zhèng, nǐ bùshì shuō nǐ yǒu Táng Bóhǔ de zhēnjì ma? ná chūlai kàn kan ā.

Hey, Mr. Zheng. Didn't you say you had an authentic Tang Bohu? Get it out and let's have a look.

B:   小點聲，我還沒跟我老婆說呢。你來這邊看。

xiǎo diǎnr shēng, wǒ hái méi gēn wǒ lǎopó shuō ne. nǐ lái zhèbiān kàn.

Quiet down, I still haven't told my wife. Come over here and have a look.

A:   喲，還是裱好的啊。

yō, háishì biǎo hǎo de a.

Ah, it's been mounted as a scroll then?

B:   這是我上次去旅遊，一個鄉下人賣給我的，說是他們家祖傳的。因為心疼畫，硬是要裱好了賣給我，還多收我五百多塊呢。

zhè shì wǒ shàngcì qù lǚyóu, yī ge xiāngxiàrén màigěi wǒ de, shuō shì tāmen jiā zǔchuán de. yīnwèi xīnténg huà, yìngshì yào biǎo hǎo le màigěi wǒ, hái duō shōu wǒ wǔbǎi duō kuài ne.

This is from the last time I went traveling. A man from the countryside sold it to me. He said it had been handed down from his ancestors. Because the painting was so dear to him, he insisted on having it mounted as a scroll before he'd sell it to me. He even got another 500 kuai out of me.

A:   《看泉聽風圖》，這原畫不是收藏在博物館嗎？

《 Kànquántīngfēngtú》, zhè yuánhuà bùshì shōucáng zài bówùguǎn ma?

Isn't the original,“Looking at the Springs, Listening to the Wind” held in the museum?

B:   那個人說這才是唐伯虎的真跡。

nà ge rén shuō zhè cái shì Táng Bóhǔ de zhēnjì.

The man said it was Tang Bohu's original.

A:   你被騙了吧？這紙張明顯是故意作舊的。

nǐ bèi piàn le ba? zhè zhǐzhāng míngxiǎn shì gùyì zuòjiù de.

You may have been lied to. It's obvious this paper was purposely made to look old.

B:   你可別瞎說。我是花了大價錢的。

nǐ kě bié xiāshuō. wǒ shì huā le dà jiàqian de.

Don't speak such nonsense. I spent a lot of money on this.

A:   這就是個贗品。你花了多少錢？

zhè jiùshì ge yànpǐn. nǐ huā le duōshǎo qián?

This is just a forgery. How much did you spend?

B:   五萬。

wǔ wàn.

50,000.

A:   這種畫畫廊裡多的是。我看最多值三百。

zhè zhǒng huà huàláng lǐ duō de shì. wǒ kàn zuì duō zhí sānbǎi.

There's a ton of these kinds of paintings in the art galleries. I think it's worth 300 at most.

B:   我不信。我要找大師鑑定去。

wǒ bù xìn. wǒ yào zhǎo dàshī jiàndìng qù.

I don't believe it. I'm going to go find a master to authenticate it.
