Yeah! Such beautiful language--how could it not invoke emotion in you? Reciting poetry is just such a pleasure.
A: 我看是受罪。我剛會說話的時候，我爸媽就逼我背唐詩。上學以後，不只要背，還要寫。不準錯一個字。你說我怎麼可能會愛上詩歌？
wǒ kàn shì shòuzuì。 wǒ gāng huì shuōhuà de shíhou， wǒ bàmā jiù bī wǒ bèi tángshī。 shàngxué yǐhòu， bùzhǐ yào bèi， háiyào xiě。bùzhǔn cuò yī gè zì。 nǐ shuō wǒ zěnme kěnéng huì àishàng shīgē？
To me it's torture. Just after learning to talk, my parents forced me to
memorize Tang poetry. After starting school, not only did I have to memorize it, I also had to write it. I wasn't allowed to get a single character wrong. So tell me how I'm going to fall in love with poetry.
B: 我跟你不一樣，我從小就喜歡詩歌，特別是古詩。
wǒ gēn nǐ bùyīyàng， wǒ cóngxiǎo jiù xǐhuan shīgē， tèbié shì gǔshī。
I'm not like you... I've liked poetry since I was little, and especially ancient poetry.
A: 那你最喜歡哪一個詩人？
nà nǐ zuì xǐhuan nǎ yī ge shīrén？ So what poets do you like?
B: 太多了！唐朝的我喜歡李白、杜甫。宋朝的最喜歡蘇軾。
tài duō le！ Tángcháo de wǒ xǐhuan Lǐ Bái、 Dù Fǔ。 Sòngcháo de zuì xǐhuan Sū Shì。
So many! From Tang Dynasty, I like Li Bai and Du Fu. From Song Dynasty, I like Su Shi.
A: 總之我就是討厭詩。
zǒngzhī wǒ jiùshì tǎoyàn shī。Anyway, I just hate poetry.
B: 哎，你真沒文化。
āi， nǐ zhēn méi wénhuà。
Ah, you're really so uneducated.
