Function The pattern 有助於 specifies that something or some instance is helpful in or conducive to the realization of something else.

1 有些人認為讓孩子去打工有助於訓練他們獨立。

Yǒuxiē rén rènwéi ràng háizi qù dǎgōng yǒu zhù yú xùnliàn tāmen dúlì.

Some people think that working part-time helps some children achieve independence.

2 有人說整型有助於改善人際關係。

Yǒu rén shuō zhěngxíng yǒu zhù yú gǎishàn rénjì guānxi.

Some people say that cosmetic surgery is conducive to better interpersonal relationships.

Usage This pattern is rather formal. Its colloquial counterpart is 對…有幫助, e.g., 好的教育對提高國家競爭力有幫助。Hǎo de jiàoyù duì tígāo guójiā jìngzhēnglì yǒu bāngzhù. Good education helps enhance a country’s competitiveness.
