似乎, sìhū, (Adv), it seems that, it gives somebody the impression that

 

Function This adverb expresses the speaker’s judgment on or evaluation of a situation.

1 看他跟妳說話的樣子,他似乎很喜歡妳。妳要不要給他一個機會?

Kàn tā gēn nǐ shuōhuà de yàngzi, tā sìhū hěn xǐhuān nǐ. Nǐ yào bú yào gěi tā yí ge jīhuì?

Seeing the way that he talks to you, it seems that he likes you. How about giving him a chance?

2 聽你這麼說,你似乎不太相信他的話。

Tīng nǐ zhème shuō, nǐ sìhū bútài xiāngxìn tā de huà.

From the way you talk, it seems like you don’t really believe what he said.

3 我以前根本沒來過這裡。為什麼我覺得似乎來過?

Wǒ yǐqián gēnběn méi láiguò zhèlǐ. Wèishénme wǒ juéde sìhū láiguò?

I’ve never been here in my life. Why does everything seem so familiar?

4 跟高中同學聊到以前在學校的事,讓大家似乎又回到十七、八歲。

Gēn gāozhōng tóngxué liáodào yǐqián zài xuéxiào de shì, ràng dàjiā sìhū yòu huídào shíqī, bā suì.

Chatting with my high school classmates about our school days then made it seem like we were all 17 or 18 years old again.

5 他每天吃喝玩樂,似乎都不需要擔心養家活口的問題。

Tā měi tiān chīhēwánlè, sìhū dōu bù xūyào dānxīn yǎngjiā huókǒu de wèntí.

Eat, drink, and be merry, that is what he does every day. It’s as if he doesn’t have to take care of his family.
