Lee and Pat are visiting their auntie and uncle. Now, they are all in a restaurant, having lunch. Lee is eating very quickly. He is eating quickly because Uncle said that when Lee finishes his lunch, he can have some ice-cream. Lee really likes ice-cream.

Lee wants to have some of the yellow ice-cream, but he can’t have any until he finishes his lunch.

This morning, Mommy gave Daddy some money to spend on Lee and Pat. Then, she asked Daddy not to let Uncle spend too much money on everybody. She knows Uncle usually likes to spend a lot of money on Lee and Pat.

Daddy wants to have some ice-cream, too. He wants to have some of the pink ice-cream. Daddy saw the pink ice-cream with the other ice-creams near the door. Daddy likes pink ice-cream. He thinks it is better than white ice creams or the other ice-creams.

Lee

Oh, we had a very busy week. We did a lot of shopping. We went to lots of shops.

Uncle

Really? What did you buy?

Lee

Well, on Monday we went shopping for food. We bought enough food for the week.

Uncle

Did you spend a lot of money?

Lee

Not so much. Mommy is always very careful when we go shopping. She really doesn’t like to spend too much money in the shops.

Uncle

Oh, I know. Your mommy is much more careful with money than I am.

Lee

And on Tuesday, we went to a pet shop with Daddy. Daddy bought a pet parrot for Pat, and some fish for me.

Uncle

How many fish did he get you?

Lee

A lot. Fourteen or fifteen I think. I wanted to get a pet rat too, but that shop didn’t have any.

Uncle

Lee! Nobody has rats as pets!

Lee

That’s what the man in the pet shop said. He said I should try to think of another animal to have as a pet.

Uncle

He was right. So Daddy bought you some fish. That was kind of him, wasn’t it?

Lee

Yes, it was. And on Wednesday, we went to a bookshop with our teacher. In the bookshop, Pat saw a beautiful book all about parrots.

Uncle

Did your teacher buy it for her?

Lee

No, she didn’t. It was too expensive. She told Pat to look for another book. But when we went home, I told Daddy about the book Pat wanted, and he went to the shop and bought it for her.

Uncle

Oh, your daddy is very kind, isn’t he? Did you go to any other shops?

Lee

Yes, we did. On Thursday, we went to a clothes shop. Mommy bought a shirt for me and some skirts for Pat. Then, on Friday, we went to another clothes shop and a shoe shop. Pat and I both got new shoes.

Uncle

Oh, you did have a busy week, didn’t you? I know! Let’s all have some ice-cream!

姨夫
