Now the children are at Auntie and Uncle’s house, and Pat is in Auntie’s bedroom. She is showing Auntie her new clothes. Mommy is there, too. Lee is not in Auntie’s bedroom. He is in another room with his uncle. Uncle is showing Lee how to use his computer.

Uncle says that his computer is quite old now. He wants to buy another computer. He wants to get a better one. He also says that maybe he will sell his old computer to Lee’s Daddy. Then, maybe Daddy will give that computer to Lee. Lee would really like that!

Mommy gave some flowers to Auntie. Auntie looked at the flowers and said, “Oh, thank you very much. They’re beautiful. I really like the pink and yellow ones. I’d better put them in water quickly. I’ll put them in water now, and later I’ll put the pink ones in the living room and the yellow ones in our bedroom. Thank you so much!”

This Saturday, everybody in the family is going to go to a restaurant. They are going to have lunch in a new restaurant near Auntie’s house. The restaurant is near Auntie and Uncle’s house, but Uncle doesn’t want to walk there. He wants to drive everybody there in his new car.

這個週六，大家打算去餐廳。他們打算到姨媽家附近新開的餐廳吃午餐。這家餐廳在姨媽和姨夫家的附近，但是姨夫不想步行去那兒。他想開新車帶大家去那兒。

Uncle has two cars now. Last year, he had only one car, but this year he bought another one. He thinks his new car is much better than his old one. Uncle always likes to buy new things. Now, Uncle has more money than when he was young. When he was young, he didn’t have much money, but now he has enough money to buy everything he wants.

姨夫現在有兩輛車。去年，他只有一輛車，但是今年，他又買了一輛。他覺得新買的車要比舊的那輛好。姨夫總是喜歡買新東西。現在，姨夫比他年輕的時候有錢。在他年輕的時候，他沒有很多錢，但是現在他有足夠的錢去買他想要的任何東西。

Daddy is not in the house. He is outside, looking at Uncle’s new car. Daddy wants everybody to come out quickly so they can all go to the restaurant in the new car. Daddy has a car too, but it is not a new car. Daddy’s car is very old now. He would like to buy another car, too. He would like to buy a new car like Uncle’s.

爸爸沒有在房子裡。他在外面看著姨夫的新車。爸爸想讓大家快點出來，這樣他們就能坐新車去餐廳了。爸爸也有一輛車，但是不是新的。爸爸的車現在非常舊了。他也想再買一輛。他想買一輛像姨夫家裡這樣的新車。

Cars like Uncle’s new car are very expensive. They are very expensive, and Daddy doesn’t have enough money to buy a car like that. Daddy didn’t buy the car he has now. Daddy’s daddy bought it and gave it to him when Daddy was a young man. Daddy thinks it really is time now to get another car.

Everybody comes out of the house and they all get in Uncle’s new car. Then, Uncle drives everybody to the new restaurant. Uncle drives his car very carefully, and he doesn’t drive too quickly. Soon, they are all at the restaurant, and everybody gets out of Uncle’s car, open the restaurant door and go in together.

大家從房子裡出來，坐上姨夫的新車。之後，姨夫開車帶大家去新開的餐廳。姨夫開車非常認真，而且車開得不太快。不久，他們就到餐廳了。大家從姨夫的車裡下來，打開餐廳門，一起走了進去。

Let’s sit at that table, over there. If we sit there, we can look out of the window.

Auntie

All right, we’ll sit over there. You go and sit near the window, and I’ll sit next to Lee.

Pat

I like this restaurant. It looks really nice. Look at those pictures, over there!

Auntie

Yes, they’re good, aren’t they? Are you hungry, Pat?

Pat

Not very. Mommy gave me some bread to eat before we got in the car. I was hungry then, but I’m not very hungry now.

Auntie

Your mommy gave me some of that bread, too. We’re going to take it home. It looks very nice. Your uncle and I are going to eat it later, with our dinner.

Pat

I’d like something to drink first. Can I have some water, please?

Auntie

Yes, you can. We can wait a little before we eat. Today is Saturday – we don’t have to work today, so we have a lot of time. We don’t have to do everything quickly.

Pat

Mommy said that when you and she were young girls, you always went around together.

Auntie

That’s right. Your Mommy and I did everything together. We were not only sisters, we were also very good friends.

Pat

That’s nice.

Auntie

Yes, but later we wanted to do different things. When we were sixteen, we went to different schools.

Pat

Why did you do that?

Auntie

Because your mommy wanted to study to be a doctor, and I wanted to study to be a teacher.

Pat

Oh, I think you and Mommy were very clever young girls.

Auntie

Not so clever, Pat. Now, let’s think about what we want to eat. I’m getting hungry.
