Now, the children are back in school. They are going to look at the books they bought on Wednesday afternoon. Can you remember how many books they got? The teacher didn’t have a lot of money, but she had enough to buy thirteen or fourteen books.

Lee really likes the color pictures in his new book.

Tom’s book has lots of different pictures that show how to grow all the different vegetables.

Pat really likes looking at the pictures in her book because the pictures show the different colors of the different parrots. There are lots of different parrots in Pat’s book, and Pat wants to learn about all of them.

Now, the time is half-past eleven in the children’s classroom. Soon, the children will close their books and put them back on the teacher’s table. Then, they will get ready to go for lunch.

Tom

Oh, yes. It’s a very interesting book. I really like it!

Teacher

Why do you like it if you don’t understand it very well?

Tom

I like the color pictures. This book has pictures of all the different kinds of fruits, and it also has pictures of all the different kinds of vegetables.

Teacher

I see. Which vegetables are you interested in?

Tom

I’m interested in potatoes and tomatoes. I would like to grow vegetables like those.

Teacher

Really? Why do you want to grow vegetables like those?

Tom

I want to grow vegetables like those so my mommy will not need so much money when she goes shopping for food. We eat a lot of vegetables in our house. If we can grow the vegetables we need, we can use our money to buy other things.

Teacher

I see. Well, it’s time for lunch now. Come on, children! It’s after half-past eleven. Put your books on my table. I’ll give them back to you this afternoon.

Tom

Time for lunch? Oh, good! I’m starting to get hungry. I’m getting really, really hungry!
