Mommy

I don’t like snakes. What about you, Pat? Do you like snakes?

Pat

Not very much. But Lee does. Lee says he’s going to ask Daddy to get him a big snake. He says he wants to look after it in his room.

Mommy

What? Oh, no! Where is Lee now? Is he in the house?

Pat

No, he isn’t. He’s outside in the garden. He’s in the garden playing with Tom.

Mommy

Well, please go and tell him to come into the house. I want to speak to him.

Pat

What do you want to speak to him about?

Mommy

I want to tell him not to ask Daddy to get him a snake! I want to tell him that he can’t have a snake. I don’t like snakes, and I will not have one in the house! Now, go and tell Lee to come in here. Go on! Go on, now!
