Karsh, Ellen, and Arlene Sue Fox. The Only Grant-Writing Book You’ll Ever Need: Top Grant Writers and Grant Givers Share Their Secrets. New York: Basic Books, 2009. Although geared to organizations, key strategies and examples are pertinent to individual grant seekers.

Thompson, Waddy. The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Grant Writing. New York: Alpha Books, 2011. Although only one chapter covers grant writing for individuals, this book is brimming with no-nonsense information on all aspects of the process. A lively and thorough guide.

Warshawski, Morrie. Shaking the Money Tree: The Art of Getting Grants and Donations for Film and Video Projects (3rd ed.). Studio City, CA: Michael Wiese Productions, 2010. A bible for fundraising for film and video, Warshawski’s organized, wise, and inspiring book is a must-have.
